GALERIE LA TOUR MONTSALÈS
ARTISTIC CAREER
Since arriving in France to live and work in 2010, Diana Winkfield's work focuses on the interpretation of the fortuitous finds of ephemera found in the wreck of an old farm in southern Auvergne.
Her work as a visual artist is a continuation of her career as a painter, using the memories of her life and that of others to invoke a sense of what was once so valuable or useful and is now abandoned.
Her main exhibition, 'Material Remains', commissioned by the Bowes Museum of Fashion and Textile Gallery in Barnard Castle, UK, in 2013 was inspired by both the well-preserved garments in the museum's collection, as well as by the worn, torn, mended and repaired detritus, and by the power of personal objects, hidden and then retrieved, to invoke narration and memory.
Diana is an experienced tutor in visual arts and design who has taught
for many years in high school and adult arts education.
She has worked as a lecturer at the prestigious Missenden Abbey Adult Education Centre and the Bowes Museum, and in residential classes on watercolor, still life in oil, note-taking in sketchbooks, life models and collography. She also gives classes to individuals and small groups.
